The Vegas Grand Prix is now in year four of its current era and increasingly the F1 weekend UK fans travel for. The race runs down the Strip itself - you're watching cars fly past Bellagio at 200mph - which is genuinely unlike any other F1 event. This is the actual UK-visitor guide: race dates, ticket tiers with real prices, flight timing, hotel prices (which triple that week), road-closure logistics, and what UK groups get wrong.
When and where
F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix 2026: 19-21 November 2026 (Thursday-Saturday). Race is Saturday night at approximately 10pm local time (6am Sunday UK).
Format: - Thursday: Practice 1 (evening) - Friday: Practice 2 + Qualifying (evening) - Saturday: Race, 10pm local
The circuit is 3.85 miles / 6.2 km, laid out through the Las Vegas Strip. Cars run down the Strip past Bellagio, Caesars, Wynn, and back around. The Sphere is directly beside the track - one of the most striking visuals in current F1.
Track times are all evening/night - this is the only night race + night practices on the F1 calendar. Suits UK viewing (dawn UK time) and is dramatic in person.
Ticket tiers - what you actually get
Tickets go on sale via Formula1.com (official) or resale platforms (Ticketmaster, Vivid Seats, StubHub). 2026 tickets typically released in February/March 2026. Roughly:
- Grandstand - general admission zones: $1,200-2,500 for a 3-day pass depending on view section. The Sphere-side grandstands sell out fastest. The "T-Mobile Grandstand" and "West Harmon" have the best value views.
- Grandstand - reserved seat: $1,800-3,500 for a 3-day.
- Wynn Grid Club: $8,000-12,000 for the weekend. Access to Wynn's F1 hospitality on the pit straight.
- Bellagio Fountain Club: $8,000-15,000. Prime view of cars accelerating past the Bellagio fountains.
- Paddock Club (official F1 hospitality): $12,000-25,000 for the weekend. Full paddock access, food, drinks, garage tours, driver appearances.
- Trackside villas (private viewing): $30,000-80,000+ per villa (usually 8-12 people). Multi-storey private terraces. Book 6-9 months out; peak villas sell in 48 hours.
Buying early matters more than F1 usually. The Vegas race is one of the highest-demand F1 tickets globally. Grandstand seats at reasonable prices are usually gone by June. Paddock Club by April.
Flights and timing
Vegas F1 weekend is one of the most expensive UK-outbound flight weekends of the year. BA/Virgin non-stop LHR-LAS return:
- Book by end of April 2026: £900-1,300 return
- Book May-July 2026: £1,200-1,800
- Book August onwards: £1,800-2,500+ if you can find seats
Best flight shape: - Wednesday evening arrival - 24 hours to acclimatise, F1 practice Thursday evening - Sunday or Monday departure - Sunday flights are packed with race attendees flying home, prices higher. Monday morning is calmer.
If you're doing the whole weekend (Practice 1 through Race), you need to be in Vegas Wednesday night. Anything later and you miss the first practice.
Hotel strategy - prices triple
Vegas hotel rates during F1 weekend go up 2-4x normal rates. A Cosmopolitan room that's $220/night in October is $700-900/night during F1 weekend. Wynn and Bellagio push $1,500-2,500/night.
Best hotel choices (proximity to track + suite of amenities during race week):
- Wynn/Encore: track runs directly past. The Wynn Grid Club is here. If you're doing Wynn's hospitality, stay here.
- Bellagio: Bellagio Fountain Club is here. Iconic view. Book 6 months out.
- Cosmopolitan: less-close-to-track but excellent late-night restaurant/bar/nightclub scene, which matters when the race ends near midnight.
- Caesars Palace: track runs down Las Vegas Blvd past Caesars. Great location for grandstand access.
- Resorts World: north Strip, still walkable to grandstands, and cheaper than Wynn/Bellagio.
Skip: south Strip hotels (Mandalay, Excalibur). The road closures make north-Strip access difficult on race weekend.
Book by January 2026 for reasonable rates. After April, you're on Airbnbs at similar prices with worse locations.
The road closure reality
This is the thing UK visitors get wrong the most. Las Vegas Boulevard is closed for the race circuit from Wednesday through Sunday. That means:
- No taxis/Uber can cross Las Vegas Boulevard for large stretches of the race weekend
- Walking is the only way to move on the Strip during race hours
- Cross-Strip movement takes 30-40 minutes on foot vs 5 min by car normally
- Uber pickup points are relocated to specific side-street zones - check the F1 official race-week transport map (posted mid-November)
What this means practically: - Stay on the side of the Strip your grandstand is on - Plan dinners at your own hotel - cross-Strip reservations are a mistake - If you're going to a nightclub after the race Saturday night, be at the same hotel or one immediately adjacent - Wednesday-Thursday movement is easier (fewer closures) than Friday-Saturday
What to wear - November evenings are cold
Vegas in November: daytime 15-22°C, evening 5-12°C, race night colder still. Practice sessions run late (11pm-1am) and it's cold at night.
Bring: - Jacket / puffer / decent coat. Wynn Grid Club and Paddock Club provide branded quilted jackets some years. - Layers for grandstands - long-sleeve base + jumper + jacket - Comfortable shoes for a lot of walking - Ear protection - cars are extremely loud at night in a concrete canyon
For Paddock Club / hospitality, business-casual is expected. For grandstands, casual is fine but "warm" beats "fashionable."
The mistakes UK groups make
Six common ones:
- Buying grandstand tickets in July for the November race - sold out or triple-priced by then. Buy in March-April.
- Booking a South-Strip hotel to save money - you'll spend all weekend trying to cross closed roads. Not worth the savings.
- Not booking dinners well in advance - race-week Strip restaurants are booked out 6 weeks ahead. Confirm every dinner reservation by mid-October.
- Planning nightclub tickets far from your grandstand - race night traffic + closures mean you're walking or stuck. Pick venues near your hotel or your gate exit.
- Underestimating how loud + cold it is - bring earplugs and warm clothes.
- Trying to do F1 + Vegas nightlife in 3 nights - Practice 1 Thursday night + Practice 2 + Qualifying Friday + Race Saturday is exhausting. Skip Thursday nightlife; save energy for Saturday.
Adding on Vegas nightlife (Saturday post-race)
The race ends around midnight Saturday. Vegas nightclubs stay open until 4-5am. If you want to hit XS, Omnia, or Zouk after the race:
- Buy nightclub tickets in advance - walk-in on F1 Saturday is very hard
- Choose a venue near your grandstand exit
- Table service is easier than general admission for after-race arrivals (skip the line)
- Expect celebratory chaos - drivers occasionally show up unannounced
Sunday: recovery day. Brunch, spa, pack. Fly Monday.
